In Full Bloom
Five Floral Wallpapers We’re Loving This Spring
At The Old Bell Hotel, we believe that charm lies in the details. From centuries-old architecture to carefully curated interiors, every corner of our hotel is designed to inspire a sense of place, history—and beauty. And what better time than Spring to celebrate the blooming brilliance of our favourite floral wallpapers?
As the Cotswolds countryside bursts into colour and cherry blossoms and magnolias fill our gardens, we’ve fallen in love with these five floral wallpapers, each bringing its own unique atmosphere to our rooms and suites. Whether subtly romantic or boldly expressive, these designs invite the outside in!
Here are five floral wallpapers we bloomin’ love, featured throughout The Old Bell Hotel and our nearby Townhouse suites:
1. Dado Atelier – Daydress Bindi Flower
Featured in: Townhouse Suite, 68 Abbey Row
Designed by Dado Atelier, a boutique British brand renowned for joyful patterns and nostalgic charm. With its delicate folk-art print and uplifting citrus tones, Daydress Bindi Flower draws on the beauty of antique prints, heritage materials, and hand-blocked techniques.
You'll find this wallpaper adorning the upstairs bedroom of our Townhouse at 68 Abbey Row. It’s a perfect match for guests who appreciate tradition—with just the right hint of fun!
2. Lewis & Wood – Windrush
Featured in: Lord Wharton
Windrush by Lewis & Wood pays homage to the Cotswold river of the same name, with each circular motif depicting a different wildflower. This independent design house is celebrated for blending historical charm with contemporary refinement which has put it firmly at the top of our owner Kim’s list of design loves.
3. Lewis & Wood – Blossom
Featured in: Room Harry Brakespear
Blossom is another standout floral from Lewis & Wood, part of their Wax Works Collection, which reimagines antique artwork from diverse cultures using the wax-resist technique. Based on a traditional Japanese kimono print, the floral motifs form a stunning Y-shaped cascade across the wall!
House of Hackney – Hollyhocks
Featured in: Townhouse Suite, 35 Abbey Row
A bold favourite of ours, Hollyhocks created by American artist Kerry Simmons for House of Hackney is unapologetically maximalist—perfectly complementing the creative vision of our owner, Kim Hanks. This iconic British brand blends opulent heritage with a rebellious edge. Towering blooms and rich jewel tones channel the spirit of Victorian botanical illustrations and are inspired by Gustav Klimt’s flower paintings, Floral fantasy at its finest!
5. Josephine Munsey – Chameleon Trail
Featured in: Townhouse Room 68, Abbey Row
Whimsical yet refined, Chameleon Trail by Josephine Munsey adds playful elegance to Townhouse Room 68. Munsey, a rising British designer, is known for her hand-painted motifs inspired by wildlife and timeless interiors.
This exuberant design features leafy vines, stylised flowers, and charming chameleons peeking through the foliage. It took Josephine a full month to paint and colour the original piece!
