Sir Geoff Hurst Dinner
Cotswolds families could have the opportunity to really treat Dad this Christmas, with a present with a difference. Footballing legend Sir Geoff Hurst will make Dad's day when he drops in to Malmesbury early next year. The former striker, who scored a hatrick to propel England to victory in the 1966 World Cup, will host a dinner at The Old Bell Hotel in Malmesbury on January 29, 2010. He is credited with scoring the 'perfect hatrick' – one goal with the head, and one each with the left and right foot – and holds a special place in the hearts of a generation.
Guests will have the opportunity to mingle with Sir Geoff during welcome drinks before tucking into a three course dinner with wine while the football icon gives a unique insight into his career and sport. Coffee and an informal question and answer session will follow.
Simon Haggarty, Director at The Old Bell Hotel said: “This really is a Christmas present with a difference. Footballing fans and anyone who lived through the euphoria surrounding the 1966 World Cup will relish the chance to meet one of our national treasures. My advice? Don't buy socks for Dad this year – treat him to dinner with one of his heroes.
